There are many different styles, patterns and colors to choose from, not to mention the several different fibers used for yarns. The type of fiber will determine its look, feel, durability, stain resistance and cost.
We’ll break those down a bit and give you some information on all of these to better help you understand and make your selection process a bit easier.
Carpet Fiber
NYLON: This is the most frequently used carpet fiber, and is highly desirable due its exceptional durability and versatility. It can be dyed into an endless variety of styles, textures and colors. Nylon also keeps its fiber height so it can withstand the weight of people and furniture.

POLYESTER: A less expensive alternative to nylon and is known for VIBRANT colors and its resistance to fading. It is also resistant to water-based stains and is easily cleaned.

P.E.T / polyester: This fiber is manufactured from recycled plastic drink containers such as sodas and milk. It is a durable fiber, water and static resistant, though it generally lacks the comfortable feel of other fibers.

POLYPROPYLENE / OLEFIN: This fiber resists fading and is inherently stain resistant due to its color-thru fiber construction. It is the fiber of choice for outdoor use due to its resistance to fading from sunlight, moisture, and mildew.

WOOL: This fiber is the most expensive of all the fibers available. It is a natural fibers and is one of the most durable, with little stain and soil resistance.
