Vinyl flooring has the ability to duplicate almost any style including wood, stone, and ceramic tile. Colors and even textures vary in vinyls, however there are Three standard types of vinyl flooring availible.
- PRINTS - This term refers to a lower-end vinyl product which is made by printing color onto the surface of the vinyl sheets. This product will wear much quicker
- INLAIDS - This higher-end vinyl product is made by imbedding colored vinyl granules onto a sheet. Thus putting the color throughout the sheet, so if the surface layer begins to wear, the color will remain.
- LOOSE LAY / CUSHIONED
Durability
Vinyl, durability refers to a wear layer which is applied over the top of the vinyl sheets or vinyl tile. Vinyl can most definitely be a leader in durability, but there are again some variances to consider.
- No wax - This is the least durable of vinyl and is used mostly in low traffic areas . It can wear, scratch and scuff.
- Urethane - This coating is for a space with normal traffic and wear, and will resist scratches and scuffs
- Enhanced Urethane - The best quality coating for vinyl for heavy traffic areas. This product will resist most stains, scratches and cuffs.
- Water Resistance - Vinyl is typically impervious to water if seams are sealed and there are no punctures or holes.
